Here’s your chance to do so! ‘The Red Brick Summit’ by Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad brings you Aagaz, the National Innovation Competition. This competition allows you to bring your innovations to the attention of investors and provides a huge boost to your journey of being an entrepreneur!

Round 1 (Submission)

  • Rules - 

    1. The competition is open to all college students - undergraduate and postgraduate, and research scholars free of cost. 
    2. All projects being displayed will have a fair chance of receiving further development opportunities offered by funding organizations and venture capitalists.
    3. Every team has to register online on our website for the competition. 
    4.  The participating entries must be in a team of a maximum of four people.
    5. No limit on the number of teams that can participate from a single institute.
    6. No student from an institute can be part of more than one team.
    7. The decision of the judges shall be treated as final and binding on all.
    8. IDEOS & TRBS, IIM Ahmedabad will have all the rights to verify the identity and accuracy of the details provided by the participants. 
    9. No responsibility will be held by IDEOS & TRBS, IIM Ahmedabad for any late, lost or misdirected entries or any such events. 
    10. The idea presented by the teams should be original (not protected by means of patent/copyright/ technical publication by anyone).
    11. The organizer’s decision shall be final in all matters.

  • Round 1- Concept Design

    Some Problem Statements pertaining to different social domains would be released in the first part of the challenge. You need to think out of the box to come up with an innovative idea to solve one problem of your choice. This round requires one online submission per team. The submission should be in the form of a pdf, not more than one page long with the following constraints:

    1) Text size = 12
    2) Font: Times New Roman or Arial
    3) Line Spacing = 1.5

    Round 2 - Prototype Design

    This round requires you to submit a preliminary version of the device or the idea for your innovation. This innovation needs to solve the problem statement chosen by you in Round 1. This round requires an online submission in the form of a Project Report introducing your prototype (recommended) and the problem it is solving.

    Shortlisted contestants from Round 1 will be informed separately by mail about more details of the event.

    Project Report Format

    1.Title

    2.Abstract
         -Objectives
         -Beneficiaries (For whom)
         -Value of results (Use)
         -Unique Selling Point

    3. Background

    4. Statement of Problem
         -A succinct definition of the problem (follows from material in the background section)

    5. Research
         -Present methods of tackling the problem (if any)
         -Proposed Solution
         -Alternate solutions/approaches
         -The novelty of Approach: How is your solution better than existing products that address the same problem.
         -Industrial Visit.

    6. Technical Report
         -Description of concepts, theories or approaches involved in the proposed solution.
         -The technical aspect of the proposed solution.
         -Detailed technical specifications and pictorial representations (block diagrams)
         -Description of the flow of operations demonstrating key features and functionality.
         -Performance estimate of the solution.
         -Experimentation done to establish the workability of the above.
         -A link to the video of the working model/ prototype.

    7. Results
         -Description of concepts, theories or approaches involved in the proposed solution.
         -The technical aspect of the proposed solution.
         -Detailed technical specifications and pictorial representations (block diagrams)
         -Description of the flow of operations demonstrating key features and functionality.
         -Performance estimate of the solution.
         -Experimentation done to establish the workability of the above.
         -A link to the video of the working model/ prototype.

    Submission for Round 2: 20th August 2019 to 15th September 2019

    Round 3 - On-Campus Finals

    Shortlisted contestants from Round 2 will have the chance to present the ideas to judges during TRBS, the management festival of IIM Ahmedabad. A powerpoint presentation will have to be used for the same. Shortlisted candidates will have to make their own travel arrangements. Accommodation can be provided at IIM Ahmedabad for a nominal amount which will be communicated later.

    Shortlisted contestants from Round 2 will be informed separately by mail about more details of the event.

    The Finale will be judged by a panel of experts. Following are the broad guidelines for judging:

    1. Innovation and creativity in the method used or product developed will be given high weightage.

    2.implementability of the product to be assessed on the following parameters:
         -Technical feasibility
         -Cost of the product
         -Usability
         -Acceptability
         -Market Value and acceptance
         -Reliability/ durability of the product or method developed
         -Number of industrial visits and implementation of the product (if happened)

    3.Performance

    4.Ergonomics if the team decides to make a well-designed product.

    In case of any dispute, the decision of the organizers or Judges will final and binding on all.
